Tamiya 1/35 M40 Self-Propelled 155mm Gun.
The M40 is a fairly new release for Tamiya and it is AWESOME! This model OOB is a dream to build full of intensive detail, outstanding engineering, and excellent fit. It even includes the full firing crew figures which are some of the best I have built. I usually struggle with figures when it comes to posing them exactly as needed in a scene to manipulate and operate equipment and tools but not with these. They do what they are suppose to do with minimal tweaking. The only disappointment is you need to purchase the Tamiya enhanced parts kit to add metal barrel with rifling and turned shells. But I guess this keeps the cost of the basic kit low and in reach of most modelers b/c the base kit will look just as good without these extras. I just love the feel of a nice metal barrel...no pun intended...LOL! No, thats what she says. If you are a fan of cold-war/Korean war armor, and/or military vehicles, you will not be disappointed. You must give this kit a go ASAP. Highly recommended to average skill level model makers with a few kits under their belt. This is because of the high parts count and complicated sub-assemblies, even though it all goes together well. As with all my builds I used mostly Ammo/Mig and Vallejo acrylic base paints with enamel/oils for weathering and washes. Dry brushing with lighter shades of the base color was also used extensively to highlight and break up the mono-chromatic color.
Nicely done indeed, sir...extremely good work IMO.
Well done, Paul! You're doing the Artillery branch proud! I've admired this vehicle for ages. Long distance - reach out and touch someone.
Paul, I like it ! Looks great seeing the crew hard at work. A lot of nice detail. Well done !
