NASM Visit
I recently went to the National Air and Space Museum in Chantilly Virginia, and saw a lot of historical aircraft; P-40, P-51, P-47, P-38, B-29, Ho229, Do335, F4U, SR-71, Concorde, Ar-234, Me163, Fritz X, F-14, F-35, MiG 15BiS, F-100, MiG 21, P-26, F-86, P-51, B-26, F6F, Fw.190, Hurricane, SB2C, DC3, Concorde. I haven’t seen many SR-71 Blackbirds on here and was wondering if someone out there could build one. I would but my modeling skills aren’t the greatest (I tried painting a B-52 I built and I used wrong paint and is now bumpy bc paint dried unevenly). I would like to thank Jeff Bailey, Craig Abrahamson for welcoming me to iModeler. Thank you for reading this.

We’re ALL glad to see you here, Kyle! You’re right: there’s not many SR71s here. I only know of one model – I built it back when dinosaurs still roamed the earth. I don’t know if that one is still available, or if another company has made a newer, better one. I love the SR71 and was really impressed when I saw one (as well as the XB70) at the USAF museum in Dayton, Ohio.

Yes, it is currently in their restoration room being put together (it is in many pieces right now… engines not put on wings, fuselage in three pieces). It is a very unique plane.

Hi Kyle (@kwross71679) !
Nice pics, and some really nice “birds” in the National Air and Space Museum in Chantilly Virginia.
I visited once the French Museum Air and Space, near Paris (in Le Bourget), and also visited once the Portuguese equivalent, the Air Museum (when there was only one, now it’s split among three different locations I think).
But none has such variety as the one you visited in Virginia!
Welcome to iModeler!
Cheers!
Dolf
