EME 2019 in Lingen

April 5, 2019 · in Show Reports · · 7 · 3.2K

(EME) is the biggest plastic modeling gig in Germany that traditionally occupies last weekend in March. This year, in its 11th manifestation, it occurred on 30th -31st of March in town of Lingen. Your humble narrator made the pilgrimage to the North and would hence like to present this very subjective, random and quite eclectic selection of personal highlights from the event.

Habitual to such undertakings, many club displayed their art to the public in awe, sellers offered hobby magic of all sorts and yes, there was a contest. Not being the part of IPMS, EME's contest has its own internal logic, so you can love it, or hate it, be part of it, or ignore it. As incurable contender, I threw myself in with only one entry and a grin on my face. The Tu-22m3 proved its grit and won Gold in a category named Aviation Diorama Master Class (all scales). Many more great models were to be seen on contest tables, as well as club displays. Some found themselves in front of my lens.

I would like to give my big cheers to the boys from “Das Hamburger Modellbauteam” who welcomed me for the second year in a row, as their “flyin' mate”; me, not quite from Hamburg, still a bird of a feather and a grateful guest.
