Hobby Boss 1/48 YF-23 Black Widow II
This has been one of my favourite designs since I was a child. I had fun building this and tried a few new ideas like tinting the canopy and colour variation on the heat tiles in the exhaust. This was also the first kit I used pre-shading on. The canopy tint is very thin copper and Tamiya smoke layered up until I was happy with the effect. I think it works quite nicely. It was too big to fit in my display cabinet so it was wall mounted next to the 1/72 Valkyrie.

Always liked the YF-23, yours came out great! That B-70 looks cool too, why not post that also.

That’s the only pic I have of it. Plus any closer shots will show had patchy the paint job is.

I remember seeing the YF-23 parked over in a corner of Hawthorne Airport some 20 years ago, very forlorn. I remember hearing it went to a museum, but not which one.
Nice work on this.

Thank you.

They are both in museums. PAV1 (the dark one) is at the NMUSAF in Dayton Ohio and PAV2 (your model) at the Western Museum of Flight in Torrance California.

I always liked the looks of the YF-23 better than the F-22. Your build really captures the look!
