R. A. A. F. F-4-1-lo
Hi All,
Here is my F-4-1-LO, R.A.A.F airframe A55-1. This is the Academy P-38F kit combined with the Red Roo RAAF P-38 Lightning(PR) conversion. This contains the resin nose which is a much better fit than the kit gun nose and decals for all the RAAF aircraft. These few aircraft came from serving USAAF stock. A55-1 was originally 41-2158. It started in Australian service on 31/08/1942 and served until 01/09/1944 when its starboard undercarriage collapsed on landing causing it to catch on fire and what was left subsequently turned into spare parts. The kit went together quite well. I used minimum filler. The camera windows are acetate painted gloss black on the inside as the resin nose is solid. Lead sinkers were shaped to fit as the kit is still tail heavy even with the resin nose. The cockpit has an Eduard Zoom set as the kit cockpit although ok is a bit sparse.

As a veteran of that kit, I can tell you, it really is a fine piece of work. Clean and beautiful.
