Monogram Apollo 11 vintage kit build

This Apollo 11 build was a commission build for AirBus in France and quite the challenge! I used a vintage 1/48th scale kit from 1970 and it is not very good. I basically scratch built everything using the included parts as a base.

All the panels are metal just like the real lander, I created my own foils (which was a challenge) and did extensive research of the actual lander to create what you see here.

I am very happy with the completed kit and I am pleased to say AirBus was extremely happy!

As usual I use paints and tons of metal and foil!

This one was a pain, but fun!

  1. Beautifully done, right down to the landing gear touch down probes. I once worked for the company that manufactured them, EDO corp.

  2. I learned so much about the lander doing that build! It was a crazy piece of engineering!
    Thank you!

  3. Outstanding. Great work on modifying the base.
