1/48 Scale Macchi C.205 Veltro "Luftwaffe"

April 16, 2020 · in Aviation · · 18 · 2K

This is a scale Macchi by that I got at a yard sale for 2.00 a few years back.

While I waited for the mailman to bring my next big project I decided to build this to cut the boredom.

Kit was simple, fit was pretty good, detail was not bad. I am not a huge fan of 1/48 scale kits due to my eyes are getting bad with old age, but it was a fun little project. Plus I love anything Italian!

Before, you German aircraft nerds attack me for my camo, I know they never did this plane in this exact scheme, I did what I felt like, because in modeling you can do whatever you want 🙂

So I hope you enjoy my little model!

  1. You did a very nice job on this

  2. Really nice work, Rick. I love all these cockpit details.
    All the best!

  3. Thanks Spiros, it is super small, hard for my old eyes! I prefer 1/32 scale lol.

  4. Rick, it is your build, and therefore you decide how it is painted! You won't hear any nerdattack from me 🙂 - very nice "whatif".

  5. So Rick, how do we know for sure one wasn't painted that way? I've heard there's one exactly like yours at Area 51. Just sayin. Nice job, I like it.

  6. Hahahahaha! We don’t know, that’s why it’s ok to have creative license. Plus, most of these planes were painted in the field so nothing was very accurate or consistent so everything is open to interpretation.
    Thanks Tom!

  7. A beautiful build - love the scheme and the weathering - looks great! Who cares if it never flew "exactly" like this looks! It is a creative hobby, after all!

  8. Nicely done, and it's yours to paint as you see it.

  9. Great story and build, I like that camo scheme!

  10. 2 bucks? What a score! I love the combat weary look - and I like that you applied the manufacturer’s data decal on the engine hood. These italian fighters are really like little sports cars, so it makes a lot of sense!

  11. Thanks Thiago! Fun little build. The Ferrari of WW2 fighters
