1/48 Tamiya Brewster BuffaloU.S. Navy VS-102

April 10, 2020 · in Aviation · · 10 · 1.4K

This build was a nice easy build of the Brewster Buffalo dressed in U.S. Navy colors of VS-102. Some photo etch details were added. I also used the Quickboost resin engine and super detailed it. The engine fit pretty well with only some minor adjustments. Check out all the details in the build log at https://davidsscalemodels.com/build-log/1-48-brewster-buffalo-vs-102/

  1. Cool F2A. They look snazzy in that light gray outfit. Almost streamlined.

  2. Nice build, David. I love the choice of the light gray scheme, not extremely commonly seen, adding an intersting tone at he shape of the curiously shaped Buffalo.
    All the best!

  3. David, Nice build on this, I have the kit, and appreciate seeing some built, especially when they are built well like this. Well done !

  4. This is an excellent build David. I like what you have done with yours.

  5. Very nice! What is the light gray you used?

  6. Model master light gray. FS36492

    • Thanks. It looks good. I've alternately seen FS36622 (Model Master Camouflage Gray) recommended. I've used it twice now, and while less tan/brown than Gull Gray, it's still not as light as I think it should be.

I really like the Buffalo and your rendition, thanks! I’d like to try another in 48, super detailing the wheel wells, especially. The grey scheme would be swell, as you well show.

  8. Nice change of pace on a Buffalo David! I have to agree with Spiros and Bill on this one...the gray accentuates the stumpy lines of the fighter! Looks great!
