Angel interceptor Mk2 Airfix 1/72
O.k. my second post is a "what if " based around a kit I picked up for virtually nothing at a club day in 2019 .
The guy was packing up and I saw this Airfix Typhoon in his pile of kits and bagged it for under a fiver, it is Airfix's first moulding of this kit based around the early testbed , I don't think the Typhoon was even operational at the time , it has a few raised panel lines but builds up into a nice little kit.
The kit sat in my "to do" pile until a rainy Sunday saw me fish it out to take closer look. I had the decal sheet for the original Angel interceptor in my spares box and I thought the large A would fit nicely and that was that .
For any who don't know the Angel Interceptor was from a Sci Fi show by Gerry Anderson in the 1960's
Thanks for looking, Neil
Melody,Harmony or Destiny?
Nicely done Neil the Typhoon looks great in the Angels livery!
Thanks for looking Dave , that big letter A fitted perfectly.
Can I ask what paint you used for the white Neil?
Halfords appliance white, it's great , goes on well and stays white.
Wasn't that Captain Scarlet? Looks great!
That's right Captain Scarlet , Thunderbirds, Joe 90...….simpler days .
Thanks for looking Rob.
Very Nice what if build, Neil!
Had built the "original" Angel interceptor very very long time ago, being 10something years old. Finished in just one afernoon. Taken a yellow (!) coat two years later, with whatever decals. Surprisingly, most of it has survived. Please take a look at my pic below. Those were the days, Thanks for sharing your build and for triggering all those memories.
All the best!

Hi Spiros, Thanks for looking buddy, this is a really fun kit to build . Here in the U.K. we see quite a few of these at club days but strangely very few are painted up OOB, they tend to appear in various WW2 colour schemes both RAF and Luftwaffe as well as other versions ,somewhere in my gallery here on iModeller I also have an Israeli air force version you might be interested in .
Keep safe, Neil.
P.S. why don't you re- do your kit ? Greek airforce would look cool !
Nice idea, Neil!
Stay safe, My friend.
