Part One: 1/32nd F2G Corsair

April 4, 2020 · in Aviation · · 5 · 1.2K

I was new at scratch-building model parts back in the 1980's. As time went by I got better at it. Looking back on my model building career, I wonder why I didn't just stay in the "Out-of-the Box" category?

This project turned into a real challenge..just look at the first couple of photos.

  1. Amazing work. Cannot stop looking at the photos, Rodney!
    All the best!

  2. Great how you made that cowling, Rodney!

  3. I'm scratch building a lot for my old Revell 1/32 Corsair but nowhere near as well as your work. Your pics are inspiring me to keep at it though.

  4. Matt:

I started to post model photos back in October, 2019 and noticed that most all contributor's only posted finished photos and for me, I learned zero because none of them showed "in-progress" (ip) photos.

In the early 1980's I took on a model contract which was hand written; (long before the net was invented). The contract stated when I got $$$ from the client, I had to send (ip) photos to prove that I had completed this part of the build. My clients always sent me the next payment and I never beat any client out of his $$$$$$. He got what he wanted and it was a 9 on a scale of 1-to-10. The only 10 come's from the maker up in heaven!

The only reason why I post here on "imodeler" is: I hope these photos with some narration helps you become a better modeler and/or help's you solve a building problem. A complete scratch-built cockpit coming!
