1/48 Tamiya (Italeri Re-Pop) Hurricane Mk. I
Not a lot to say. As my Mum always said "If you don't have anything nice to say..." But I'd be remiss in failing to mention that a number of parts fit, ahem, not so well. Decals, however were amazingly good- perfectly snuggled with Tamiya MarFit setting solution.
Cheers!
P.S. 80 years on... I fear that 3-4 generations on, so much is forgotten. Now using the utmost restraint to swallow a political rant...
Beautiful. What paint did you use?
Hi George,
I could give a very long list, but the basic colors are Mr. Color Dark Earth, Tamiya XF-1 Flat Black, and MRP for everything else.
Not much to say...'cept WOW. The scale-a-ton marbling shows up really well.
Done with the H-S?
Ja. I think it finally got so tired of me fussing with it that it gave up and began to cooperate.
The result looks good.
Looks fantastic and totally realistic, Stan!
Great weathering, among others.
Colors are perfect. You nailed it
🙂 ... Greetings ... 🙂 :
Great work on that Hurricane model Stan, your paint work skill is very well toned and the slight weathering is very much well applied. Thank you for sharing these images.
Yes, the Italeri Huirricane has it´s issues but you did a very nice job!
Stan, that’s a beautiful Hurri you got there. The build looks very solid, and whatever issues the kit had are not perceived in my eye. The camouflage also looks spot on. So choosing between Italeri or Airfix, which one offers the best detail?
Both are nice kits. Italeri has the option to show off the engine compartment, but the Airfix has both wing guns compartment details.
Apparently, the Airfix has fewer detail mistakes and it really does go together very well. I had it assembled and painted within two weeks.
If I had to select one or the other I would pick Airfix.
Dan's right. If you want a Hurricane that is "no sweat" in assembly and looks great when finished (not to mention all the parts are in every kit to do the tropical and Sea Hurricane versions), Airfix is what you want. They've just re-released it with new markings for 303 Squadron in the Battle of Britain as one of the options.
Thanks fellas, I am considering doing a BoB duo and I think I”ll try the Airfix then. Cheers!

I built the new tool Airfix Hurricane during our 100 Years of the RAF, and I agree with the others, it is possibly the very best kit the new Airfix has done to date... You will be happy with it I'm sure. Plus they have the additional parts in the box to build several versions. This isn't "advertised" but it is there.
Looks very good result for the kit quality...
Nice job on this Stan.
Excellent model.

This is an excellent looking Hurricane. I like everything about it.
A real beauty, that!
