Space 1999 1/24 Moon Buggy
Another relatively quick build. This one from last year.
This is the MPC 1/24 Moon Buggy which is an extra from the 1/48 Space 1999 Nuclear Waste Diorama which I might build later when I get another display cabinet.
Any way, this one comes in yellow plastic. I sprayed on chrome yellow on the plastic. The figures were painted using an airbrush with masks and the fine details painted with a 00 sable brush. Decals were added with help from MicroSet/Sol and Solvaset for the really tough areas. The air lines were made using thick silver thread and secured with CA glue. Mounting holes were drilled out based on photos from the show/internet.
Tires were painted using RLM66 and the hubs painted gloss black.
The model was weathered with concrete dust that doesn’t show up very well on camera while the figures were weathered using black and burnt umber oils to bring out the fine details.

Always, SF models are my 2nd fav subject next to aircraft.

Looks great. Why is it that the O2 supply line looks in SciFi anyway, always look fragile and easy to break.

Thanks. I think it’s always a handy plot point when said astronaut gets his air line ripped out by an alien or human (it happened too many times on that show.) The real life air/water lines are much thicker.

Thanks. I’m a fan of Space 1999 too, but hard to take it as seriously as I did when I was a kid.
