Bf 109 G-4 /R3 1/48 by Hasegawa
I spotted this plane in the Classic Colours series of books "Aufklarer" volume two and was immediately attracted to it. Additions to the kit were:
blanking off the gun troughs
adding detail to the wheel wells
installing an under fuselage camera
a rear view mirror added to the canopy
cutting away part of the rear nose front fuselage scoop
Aires cockpit set
Cutting Edge prop and spinner and seatbelts
As far as the scoop mods, I think this was done to increase the airflow to the spark plug leads as this plane operated in France in the summer of 1944 by 4.(F) 123 and was used for low level recon running flat out most of the time.
I like what you did here, Dale, particularly the small bit with the shoulder harness - very realistic. Great paintwork as usual and the conversion work is excellent. Interesting it is using "2 years old" markings in 1944.
Very nice build, Dale.
Your additions to this kit are great of this not so often seen version.
Well done.
Very cool.
A recon 109, seems like I learn something new every day. Nicely done Dale, great work as usual.
I agree with all gents above, Dale: it is a fantastic build with a lot of nice details.
A recon 109 is not a bird often seen modeled.
I love your paintjob and weathering.
Well done!
Thanks to all for the nice comments!
Not one of the fanciest schemes but you did a great camo job and nice detailing! Good to see recon bird.
Nicely painted and finished. Looks fantastic!
