Phantasy Phantom

November 5, 2020 · in Aviation · · 10 · 1.8K

This was a pretty fast build. Due to the pandemic, my school got moved completely online so I’ve been having a lot more time for my models. On Tuesday, as I was watching the election, I kept seeing the American flag come up and that gave me an idea for the paint scheme. I had to substitute light grey for white and use decals from a variety of places. The stars on the tail came from a tank and some of the other decals came from a thunderbolt.

  1. That's a great scheme - I'd love to have seen that flying off a carrier.

  2. Exceptional scheme, Amari.
    Well done.

  3. This is a beautiful build, Amari @themturtles!

    Full of imagination!

I was doing such "inspired form something" builds when I was your age, and I enjoyed them so much!

Here are two pics I just took for you: a Matchbox F-16B that I build 40 years ago and I have still kept it in my showcase:

The scheme was inspired from the YF-16 prototype, with my own color interpretation.

I love it, I wish I could do such builds today, and I might even do!

The Airfix Phantom looks good. I can see the panel lines are a tad on the deep side, seems that it is kind of a norm for the "NEW AIRFIX" kits.

Such a good thing that you spend your "free" time doing something really creative.

    You make us proud!

    Well done!

  4. Looks similar to a Marine bicentennial scheme Phantom! Well done.

  5. Looks great, Amari! Keep up the good work.

  6. Creative paint scheme, keep it up!

  7. Lots of "outside the box" here, Amari. Keep it up.
