Revell 1/144 Tornado IDS

November 21, 2020 · in Aviation · · 12 · 2.4K

This was a quick build that went quite smooth - these Revell kits are really nice and go together without too much issues. I decided to build it gear-up so I had to make two "figures" (in this scale they are really only two tiny blobs of clay that have been painted) and since the aircraft where going to be posed on a pole I had to make a small base for it. I decided to 3D print a plate in the shape of the letter N in the logo πŸ˜‰

  1. This is a great looking tiny Tornado, Tommy.
It's good that you added this picture with the lighter because it is hard to believe to be a 1/144 build.
    Well done.

  2. Nicely done, I like the way you have it posed on the stand.

  3. Very nice Tiny Tornado - great looking stand.
Great size reference with the Bic lighter.

  4. This is a really superb job in 1/144, Tommy.
You have definitely fooled the scale here, as it looks at least like an excellently built 1/72!
I love the looks of the Tornado and your model, mounted on this inspirational base, really excels!

    • Thank you very much, Spiros! πŸ™‚

I decided early on in the build that I needed to build it gear-up so the MW-1 would be exposed better. The base was a last minute decision when I saw the official Tornado logo - I sketched it in Fusion 360 and printed it on my Prusa MINI 3D-printer
