COVID No.3 Silver Wings Fiat Cr-42

December 24, 2020 · in Aviation · · 8 · 2.7K

I had desired doing this kit for some time and had treated myself to obtaining it for my birthday - September of last year. Started building in November and finished in March. This is a very, very nice kit, but it resin with PE and decals included. I added some minimal detailing to cockpit, cowl, engine and wing wiring, and that is about it. Now painting it in the Italian paint scheme is a different thing. Grigio mimetico underside with giallo mimetico, verde mimetico, and bruno mimetico colors on the upper surface. The site: Stormo is very useful in regards to camouflage information. Tamiya and AK paints used. I had to do a little mixing for the sand color- used AK Maize yellow to start. I used kit and decal box to come up with the decals needed for this scheme

  1. Plenty of detail there.

You should have kept to the Swedish theme and made it into a J 11 fighter 😉

  2. Amazing work on your FIAT, Steve!
That difficult Italian camo turned out very nice.

  3. Another jewel...
    regards

  4. Gotta thank you for doing this, so the ICM injection-molded 1/32 CR-42 could come out. 🙂

    More great work.

  5. Yes, I saw that ICM was going to do this and busted my Fanny to finish this.

  6. Great build, Steve.
That scheme is very well applied, I like this Italian mottling scheme a lot.

  7. Lovely work Steve!

  8. Wow - that had to be a tough color scheme to paint! Came out very lovely.
