Getting back in the Saddle
After a loooonnnggg hiatus after retiring from the military, I recently decided to get back in the hobby and also write a first post. This is one of my first, the Revell Porsche Jr. 108 tractor. I saw an article here a while back that inspired me to try this kit. It is a snap tight but using cement and a tiny bit of putty here and there it built easily...a fun build. I grew up on a farm and we had several smaller tractors like this one for work around the yard and pastures. I used Tamiya paints exclusively. This was the first time using the hair spray technique for weathering and I was pleased with the results. The base coat was their hull red with a bit of orange mixed in it. The faded top coat was their flat red whitened a bit. The rims were white with a bit of yellow to make a cream color...trial and error. I discovered a bottle of Pactra weather paint (remember the little square plastic jars) which I used on the muffler. I added wires to the alternator to finish it up. Now need to dirty up the tires a bit. Thanks for looking. Gary
Welcome back! Looks great from here - but let's get some bigger pics of this beauty! (and maybe a few more - some details...)
Greg, thanks for the tips. New at this.
Looks great, Gary. You should take it out to a farm field for some pics, probably fool everybody that it's real. Keep up the good work.
Thanks for the kind words Aldo.
Nicely done, looks very realistic.
Thanks Robert!
Yes, bigger pix! This appears to be really good, but I'd like to see it to be sure. 🙂
Thanks Tom I will post better pictures!
Welcome to iModeler, I never knew Porsche made tractors, something they have in common with Lamborghini. This is a neat looking tractor, definitely liked.
I didn’t either until I saw another build. Would love to see one first hand.
This is an amazing build, Gary!
Welcome aboard!
Nicely done Gary, and welcome aboard, you'll find lots of friendly folks visit this site.
Already have seen that with the reply’s. Thanks
Welcome back, it looks great!
