The old Revell 1/72 P-40E
This is my first writing on this site so I decided to show my first build in 30 years of not building a kit...build it for a FB Revell GB that ended this past April, 2020. It was fun, I tried to make this old dog do some new tricks. This is the old Revell P-40E in 1/72 scale...I build a ton of these back in the late 60's and early 70's. I did not used any after market parts, anything that was changed on this build was scratched built: cockpit, carburetor inlet, reworked the spinner, move the exhaust stacks back a little and a few other things. The decals are original from this kit except for the tiger's mouth which is over 40 yeas old Micro-Scale set. I had fun on this build and happy with it, got me back into building again. Later I will post more of my recent and past builds.
Thanks,
Bob
Nicely done! I can't remember how many of those old Revell 1/72 scale kits I built as a kid!
First of all, welcome Bob @v1pro, to this great community.
You did a great job on this oldie.
And you definitely not lost your modelling techniques after all these years.
Well done.
I remember those old kits. Welcome back to the hobby.
A fine job on a classic, I did one of these last year, welcome aboard!
This is a wonderful P-40E, Bob. Love your job, improvisations included!
What a nice comeback to our beloved hobby.
Welcome aboard!
Hey guys, thank you. It feels great to be back in this hobby. This is a great site and very healthy too with great builds and modelers. This build was completed almost a year ago, since then I have completed 14 builds. I will eventually post them including some restoration of my older builds. Thank you again! ?.
Wow, @v1pro ! 14 builds AND old models restorations in one year! That's some amazing comeback, isn't it!
Looking forward to see your finished models posted here!
Welcome back, Bob. I built one of those as a kid too.
Welcome to iModeler, Bob, this old kit came up great, definitely liked.
🙂 ... Greetings ... 🙂 :
Welcome to this forum, I do trust you will have a good time here.
Very nice job on this classic Revell model kit Bob.
Man those things were rough, you smoothed that one out nicely.
I think I had them all. Even then, I knew they were rough. Box arts were
masterpieces though.
I agree with Bill, and always thought maybe they should've had their boxtop artists design the kits too, they would've at least looked much better!
Welcome back to the hobby and I like you already. Looking forward to seeing more of your work.
Guys, thank you again! I have looked at some of your works, just amazing!
Welcome to iModeler, and back to the hobby! Love the Warhawk - it is my favorite kind of project - bringing to life these really old kits (as my soon-to-be posted Airfix 109 will attest). Nicely done!
