Kawasaki Ki-61-I Hien, Tamiya 1/72
Finished this little kit in 2020. What can I say, this is the best kit I ever built, absolutely superb. No filling required. Painted with AK Real Colors and Alclad II paints.

looks great!
Thank you Lis!
Amazing result, Istvan!
Could easily pass for an excellently built 1/48!
Thank you Spiros!
Awesome result, Istvan
Great paintwork and weathering, especially on this scale.
Thank you John! My first metallic finish, i hope it went this way.
Fantastic finish on this. Love it!
Thank you Greg!
Great job all around, especially the subtle weathering in the red and black. It is so easy to over weather a 1/72 scale aircraft but yours has the look of an airplane that has been seen a lot of action, but can still fly. I have this kit in the early stages of assembly and you are right it is an engineering marvel. This gives me inspiration to finish mine.
Thank you Scott. The color shades on the hinomarus and the black anti-glare panel done with airbrush (H&S Evolution 0.3). I hope you can finish your Hien, this kit worth the time.
Very nice result - superb paintwork all around. This is good inspiration for me to pull this kit out of the closet.
Thank you Tom!
Good luck for your Hien! ๐
Clean and sharp, Istvan. Hard to believe itโs 1/72.
Thank you John!
1/72 is my "original" scale. As many of us I built 1/72 planes in my childhood, I really like 1/48 and sometimes 1/32 but if I want a relaxing couple of ours for modeling I return to the 72.
Very realistic overall finish.
Thanks Dale!
That looks beautiful and indeed could easily pass for 1/48.
Too bad Tamiya didn't update their paint instructions, though, as the colours they specify aren't correct. This plane had blue stripes. There are a number of other deviations from the instructions too, such as lack of upper surface stencils, camouflaged ailerons and a few other things. So anyone building this kit: do not trust the paint/markings instructions, sadly they are incorrect. The same goes for most Ki-61 kits, but this particular scheme is very prolific.
Attached my profile of this plane, from Nicholas Millman's Ki-61 & Ki-100 Aces by Osprey Publishing.

Thank you for the useful informations Ronnie!
I faced with this problem after I finished my Ki-61, so I accepted the mistake. Really enjoyed the building and painting process.
I agree with all of the above, great job!
Thank you Robert!
When you've got it flaunt it. Istvan, another helping of photos please. Some excellent work on the Ki-61 Hien. Some folks like to study the work of some excellent modeling.
Thank you Stephen!
Here are some more pictures (unfortunatelly I did just a few photos in the process):

Istvan,
Thankyou, you could have easily gotten away with writing that your kit was in 1/48 scale. Some excellent work, nothing over stated and painted to scale. Everything comes together. Looking forward to seeing more of your gifts and talents.
