Supermarine Spitfire Mk. VIII "Grey Nurse" Eduard 1/72

August 22, 2021 · in Aviation · · 11 · 2.3K

This is my latest completed model. Eduard's range is great in 1/48, even in 1/144, but my copy of this legendary fighter was full of surprises... The surface of the kit was greasy and cellulite looking. Sanding, sanding...The fit of the nose section is tricky, you must very careful. The overal quality, the details are fantastic. The decals usually top quality in the eduard kits, but this one was a disaster. Didn't sticks to the surface, falling down...It was a rough one, but I experimenting a lots of weathering stuff. Hope you like it.

  1. Nicely done. The weathering is quite effective.

    Istvan Havril Fantastic weathering!

PS. Did you use Micro Set and Micro Sol or another component to decals? This kit is quite new product, so it was very bad karma if decals are so bad.

  3. Great job, Istvan, despite the challenges!

  4. Even though you had some issues, you turned it into a great build, Istvan @havrilistvan
    The weathering is definitely succesful.

  5. G'day Istvan (@havrilistvan),
I never would have guess that this is 1/72.
You have done an excellent job in spite of the difficulties.
I am in the early stages of building a pair of the 1/48 Aussie Eight kits and I hope I don't encounter similar problems.
    Liked very much!

  6. Experimentation successful. Great job on this model. All good.

  9. 🙂 ... Greetings ... 🙂 :
This is really an impressive and exceedingly good work Istvan,
very much so when one takes upon consideration the scale of the model.
Good job on the weathering. In my personal opinion, what others consider work or
a issue, I consider it part of the hobby, a big part of the fun and time spending. You dealt with what you had and the
    results are exceptionally clear.
    Good work

  10. You did an excellent job on this - the paint and weathering look great! Well done.

  11. Looks spectacular, Istvan (@havrilistvan). I thought it was 1/48 when I first looked at it. I really like the gray finish on the belly.
