Hellenic Navy Destroyer Thyella (Storm) D28 1/350

January 5, 2022 · in Ships · · 11 · 1.7K

Hello everyone!
I modified Trumpeter's The Sullivans square bridge Fletcher to depict the upgraded Fletcher of the Hellenic Navy.
A fair amount of scratch building was done. Used the Fletcher pe set by GMM, 5in Turrets and Bofors by Larsenal and 3d printed hedgehogs and figures by Black Cat models.
Hope you like it!

  1. A truly wonderful result, Νίκο!
The amount of extra work and overall build quality are simply amazing!
    Congratulations!

  2. Amazing ship, Nikos @nikosmadakis
Beautiful work on these tiny elements.

  3. Adding to the above comments, the sea base also looks stunning

  4. That's some fine modelling. My hat's off you, especially for your scratch built modernizations, and the lively diorama.

  5. That’s some mighty fine detail work above and below deck. You have amazing no.11 knife skills cutting those mask numbers so precisely. I would like more details on how you created the ships wake and sea base. It’s extremely well done and realistic.

    • Eric I am afraid I cheated a little bit. I have a Silhouette Cameo machine for cutting paper and I used it to cut the numbers...
The seascape base is styrofoam lightly melted with a heatgun to create the general shapes. The wakes and froath are created by mixing cotton with gloss acrylic medium.

  6. Everyone, thank you for kind words. I really appreciate it.

  7. Great job.
I also have the same kit to transform into a Spanish Navy ship that came from the US Navy.
    The transformation is interesting.
    Cheers

  8. Fantastic build, great water scape!

  9. Outstanding, Nikos! I’m of the opinion that ship modeling is the most challenging corner of our hobby.
