1/72 F-4B Screaming Eagles VF-51 – Fujimi Kit G-11
Building this F-4B reminded me just how much I like Phantoms, but it's still a toss up between the sleeker F-4B/J Navy planes or the F-4E Air Force Gun Jets - I can't decide - heck , even the Recon birds look awesome!
I had the pleasure of meeting my neighbours parents during their visit from Nebraska a little while back.
Talking with her dad, we somehow started talking about aircraft and as it turned out he served with the U.S Navy being assigned to Attack Carrier Airwing Fifteen on the USS Coral Sea.
A while later I asked my neighbour if her dad would like a display model for his office area.
I had a choice between VF-51 Screaming Eales or VF-111 Sundowners, I decided to go an in-flight F-4B from VF-51.
I had a few Fujimi kits from a lot purchase on Ebay and I figured I'd use kit G-11 which is a great kit released in the 90's with original tooling from the mid 80's.
Decals were a mix of using some form the kit, then some from a surplus set from Hasegawa 00151 and then a few from a new set of MicroScale AC72-0038 and a LOT of Tamiya Mark Fit Decal Solution.
Upper coating was Tamiya XF-55 Deck Tan and lower surfaces were coated with XF-2 White.
I only utilized the sparrow missiles, wanting to keep the ordnance to a minimum as I didn't want things snapping off during transportation.
The base is just a square wooden coaster with a 1/8 inch dowel as a post. I made up the emblem sticker for the base but I still haven't got any ink for my colour printer - so that next on my 'to do' list - get a colour sticky label printed!
Now I just need to figure a good packing method so it can make its way to my friends Dad in one piece.
Thank for viewing.
Fantastic model, George! I am sure your neighbor's Dad will be most happy!
Thanks Spiros (@fiveten), I am hoping he likes it. Bothe the VF-51 and VF-11 Sundowners had great squad colours.
Great result on this Phantom, George @georgeswork

Nicely done George, looks good and clean.

Thanks Ray (@rays), The Hi-Vis schemes had some pretty fancy colours.
Model looks very good! Nice stand!
Thank you, Lis (@lis). the stand was easier than I thought it would be.
You can't not like a Phantom! Looks great, and a nice addition with the stand.
Thanks Greg (@gkittinger), I thought I'd miss the Sidewinders and tanks - but I don't.
Phantastic Phlying Phantom!
