1/72 KP P-51B
This had been sitting on my bench nearly completed for a while. I finally got it finished today. This was the personal aircraft of Capt. Donald M. Malmsten 4th FG 334FS of Burwell, NE "Turnip Termite". On June 6, 1944 this aircraft was being flown by Lt. Edward J. Steppe of New York, NY. over France. Steppe's element leader Maj. Winslow M. Sobanski also from N.Y, NY had hit some wires and Steppe was escorting him home when both aircraft were jumped by a superior number of enemy aircraft. Both men were KIA. Steppe was 26 years old and Sobanski was 25 at the time of his death.
The model is the 1/72 KP P-51B. I added drop tanks and pylons from a Hasegawa kit. Markings are from a Xtradecal sheet and the model is painted with MRP paints
Very nice, Geoffery. Clean build and well-done finish.
Nice Pony! I love the fast-back version of the Mustang.
Hey I am from Burwell NE! Gonna have to check this out! Nice Mustang by the way!
Great result, Geoffrey @caabreu
Nice subtle weathering as well.
Amazing result for the scale, Geoffrey!
Fantastic result on KP Kit! If You remember My KP Mustang I think that "cage" canopy fits better than Malcom Hood. You have sanded very good undersurfaces! I have some problem with seam under engine, and air intake. Did You have fuel tanks from extra KP resin set?

Hi Lis,
I used the tanks and pylons from a Hasegawa kit. Thanks for your nice comments.
@caabreu I used extra resin set from KP. I don't know why kit doesn't have dropped tanks. This kit is really good, but after time where Arma made her P-51, all another 1:72 Mustangs was outclassed. Did You replaced machine guns barrels?
Yes, I agree. I also have the Arma kit. I am trying to build all my other P-51B kits before I start the Arma kit. I need to build the Hasegawa next even though the wing is not accurate.
Great looking Mustang!
