Tamiya 1/24 Mercedes AMG GT3
Over the years GT racing most of the world's manufacturers, not least Mercedes Benz. This is the Mercedes AMG GT3, released in 2016, in line with the FIA's GT3 class specifications.
Based on the AMG GT production car, it was given an aluminum space frame, carbon fibre body parts, a giant rear wing and diffuser, front spoiler, etc.
There is a naturally aspirated 6.3 litre V8 under the bonnet. The GT3 had many victories and podium finishes during the 2016/17 seasons.
The model was built out of the box but used after market transfers to depict the Spa 24 hour winning car. The transfers included tyre markings which were absent in the standard kit. The main colour is Tamiya's Light Gun Metal from the spray can.
Thanks for looking and happy modelling.
Exceptional result, George!
Thanks, Spiros @fiveten, you are everyone’s good friend.
Sweet build, buddy!
Thanks Gavin, @snowman, I swore I saw your Panigale here, but now it’s disappeared, the local brew is strong, but ...
Yeah, I pulled it after seeing your cool spread and rejigged it a bit. Still looks the same though...
Excellent build George, edit I like the chosen scheme, and you've laid the decals down nicely! The Merc just looks so rad...
Thanks for looking, Andrew @pb_legend, Mercedes just usually look so cool.
Always great to see cars posted here. Looks excellent, George. All those decals go smoothly?
Hi Eric @eb801, glad you appreciate it, and, yes, the after market transfers went on easily.
This Mercedes is a beautiful build, George @chinesegeorge
Great to see a racing car and especially with these excellent looks.
Hi John @johnb, thanks for your generous comment as usual. Spa can’t be a million miles from where you live.
@chinesegeorge, correct, George. It is a little less than 200km (185km) to the south. Approximately a 2 hours and 15 minutes drive. I once visited an F1 race there.
Nice clean build George...6.3 litre V8...WOW!
Hi Rory @Rory, thanks for looking.
Nicely done George, Le Mans 24 hr is a mini theme of mine, this would fit in almost.
Thanks Allan @kalamazoo, I’m certain they raced at Le Mans, but I think the ACO have got copywrite on “Le Mans” and the transfer manufacturers are a bit wary.
