1/35 Airfix M12 GMC

September 27, 2022 · in Armor · · 7 · 1.2K

Here is my M12 GMC.

I have done a couple of scratch built mods such as cut the bulkhead in the cab behind the driver and added a piece of etch brass diamond mesh, replaced the engine deck air grills with etch brass diamond mesh ones as the kit ones are solid plastic pieces with the mesh moulded on. Used Tamiya tape and mad three x carry straps under the rear spade as well as seat belts on the two seats in the rear tray. All done according to research photos.

The model has been brush painted using Vallejo Model Color US Olive Drab and then a Humbrol acrylic spray matt cote applied.

The tracks are the kit supplied ones.

  1. Fantastic result, Phillip and amazing hand brushing skills!

  2. Beautifully done, awesome paint work!

  3. Great looking self-propelled gun, Phillip (@phillipe50). I am truly amazed that you got this sort of finish with hand brushing. Well done.

    • Many thanks for the complement re brush painting. Lately I have generally done the primer using a spray can of automotive grey, white or red primer, then brush paint the main colours using Vallejo Model Color and finally doing a clear cote of matt, satin or gloss with a spray can. I do sometimes use an air brush to do the paint colours, but very rarely.

  4. It’s always good to see an Airfix that’s well built and finished.
