Aoshima 1/12 FXS LOW RIDER V-TWIN CUSTOM
Aoshima 1/12 BIKE series No.86, BLACK LOW RIDER V-TWIN CUSTOM has been assembled.
This kit was originally released by another manufacturer and reprinted about 10 years ago, but I recently obtained it and tried to assemble it.
Unfortunately, the kit does not include any mention of Harley and does not include decals for the Harley logo.
So, I modified and finished it as a custom bike like a model.
The main work is to reproduce the omitted piping, convert the car to a single-seater, and remove some equipment.
The front forks are lowered by 2 mm and the rear fenders are lowered in mounting position.
Very cool build! How did you accomplish the exhaust wrap? Just like all the other details, it looks just right..
The exhaust pipe thermovantage was reproduced by applying surfacer to masking tape. The clamps are made of aluminum tape cut into thin strips.
Nicely chopped! I'd buy it. Never understand these manufacturers not wanting free advertising.
Thank you. I am sorry to hear about the trademark, but I guess there are many difficult aspects.
Amazing build, Dagored!
Thank you.
Great looking low rider, Dagored @dagored. Good choice to make the conversion.
Thank you, I enjoyed the process of modifying it to my liking.
Looks really cool, Dagored, great conversion. Tamiya used to do 1/6 scale Harley’s but they’ve been dropped, and 1/12 kits are very rare. I don’t understand why, I would have thought they would be very popular.
Currently, Harley plastic models have become very rare, and this series from Aoshima is the only one in 1/12, but it is a pity that it has not been re-released for more than 10 years.
Nice build, I really like the way you painted model and the engine build up it looks realistic. You have built a really nice looking motorcycle there.
Over the years the manufacturers of various aircraft and vehicles have come not to look at it as free advertising. Instead the look at it as a licensing fee revenue source...(rubbing hands greedily) making money and getting your product advertised is even better. You will notice that Tamiya released there 1/48th WWII U.S. Army Infantry At Rest set, and in small print says it included a "Light Vehicle" and driver. No mention of the word Jeep. This way the avoid licensing fees and the modeler finds a little jem of a kit in their box of figures.
Thank you very much. The model licensing issue is a difficult one, and I am sure there will be many more difficulties in the future. I hope that there will be more opportunities to resell them, even in this case.
Wonderful looking bobber. The aging really sells it. Just enough to make it look like a well-rode & often maintained Shovelhead. I too wish the 1:12 bike market was more robust. These are a great sale to build. This could win show awards for sure. LIKED!
Detailing the shovelhead engine was a lot of fun. I would be happy if Harley kits became more readily available.
That looks great, and quite realistic too! Well done @dagored! 👍 Gotta love an ol' shovel; here's a look at yours truly with my "La Bamba", circa 1986 or '87 She was a 1975 '74 and mine for about five years! 😃
Thank you, you actually rode a shovelhead Harley, that's great.
Outstanding Harley. Major points for that exhaust wrap.
Thank you very much, the exhaust wrap was something I wanted to reproduce this time.
What a fantastic build, taking a lot of inspiration from it. I love the weathering you've done, gives so much interest and realism, the wrapping on the exhaust is an amazing addition and the leather seat is superb, would you mind sharing how you got that effect, been trying to get a nice leather look for a while and just not getting it right.
Superb work - I really love it.
Thank you for your compliments. I am very happy about the texture of the seats and the reproduction of the exhaust pipes, which is something I put a lot of effort into this time.
