MKHL Bf-109F

October 31, 2022 · in Aviation · · 14 · 0.7K

Hello everyone,

Let me show you my first ever Bf-109 in my first ever article here at imodeler.

I always tended to avoid this subject of aviation, since there were and are always endless debates of the exact colors, exact scheme etc. But I grew older and decided: screw it, I'll build one. The donor wa an Bf-109F4 Profi Pack kit, which was also my first one from Eduard. The kit itself was wonderful, no real issues or lfaws. Went together like a dream, but I guess it's all been said earlier.
For paint I chose MR Paints. They were really user friendly. I was so much amazed, that I changed from Gunze, which I never loved nor hated. For weathering I have used oil paints and pigments.

For decals I've bought an SBS decal set and originally intended to do the 3 tone ( possibly RLM 61/62/63 ) plane, or the white camouflaged, or V.0 + 39. Wait, I wanted build all of them. Well, nothing to do, made a very rational decision, buy other kits, of course Eduard, for the other schemes. This way the decal sheet won't get wasted. The decals went on ok, but they resisted blending in, not even with hot water or Microset / Sol.

According to information, I wanted to capture a plane in the springtime, somewhere in Ukraine, that's why I built a base, using a grass mat from Modelscene. Also put some drop tanks with a tyre, just to break the uniformity of the base.

Even though I had many firsts for this project, I enjoyed every minutes of building, and I learned a lot from it. That's why I do this hobby after all.

Like they say: And many more to come!

P.S.: I have to confess, my first ever Eduard was an Il-2m3 ages ago, but that project was abandoned and never finished.

Regards,
Gabor

  1. Welcome aboard, Gabor! That is one impressive Bf-109 and the diorama really does a nice job of accenting your build. Paint and weathering look phenomenal, great job!

  2. I can’t comment on the colours, Gabor, but the paintwork looks great, and your base sets it off very well. Welcome to iModeler.

  3. Welcome to iModeler Gabor. That’s a real nice first post.

  4. Very nice work and a good result. Your weathering is excellent.

  5. Welcome to iModeler, Gabor (@kistuz). Nice job on this 109. I am always looking something a little unusual, and the paint and markings on this one fit the bill. Well done.

  6. A great result and an equally great diorama, Gabor!
    Keep them coming!
    Welcome aboard!

  7. What a beautiful entry to iModeler, Gabor @kistuz
Seems like you found exactly what modelling is about in this kit.
Enjoying the build from start till the end and learning as well.
Welcome to this great comunity andhope to see more of your builds.
    A pity about the Sturmovik.

    • Thank you!

About the sturmovik, I actually messed up the paint. That time I had a brush only which was not a problem. The trouble came when I finished the paint and came up with the idea to do the panelling. I only had Lifecolor water based paints. You can imagine the result 😀

Anyway one day I might save it.

  8. Great build Gabor, this is a fantastic looking 109. And welcome to iModeler's!

  9. Thank you all!

Altough I usually not into WW II era aviation ( except for a few types which I admire ) I kinda got liked this plane. I'll soon refute my statement about WW II planes, since I have a long loved planes, the F4U corsair and my next article will be about a birdcage.

  10. That is a real beauty! The paint and weathering is excellent and the base and additions make a very nice setting for it. Well done, and welcome to iModeler.
