1/48 Great Wall Hobby P-61B "Lady in the Dark"

November 6, 2022 · in Aviation · · 8 · 0.9K

This is my build of the 1/48 Great Wall Hobby P-61B representing the famous “Lady in the Dark”. She gained notoriety for being the last aircraft to shoot down a Japanese aircraft at the end of World War II. I used the Eduard “BigEd” photo etch kit as well as numerous scratch built details to complete this build. This was built with the gear up and it now resides hanging in my studio. Happy modeling!

You can see all the details of this build from the start to finish in my build log section at https://davidsscalemodels.com/build-log/1-48-p-61b-black-widow-lady-in-the-dark/

The interior is a true work of art.
Your thread was very learningful and a pleasure to follow.

  4. You knocked this one out of the park, David @davids_models. Your build thread is excellent and I will be consulting it as I'm slated to pull my GWH kit off the "to build" shelf in early 2023 and get started on it at last.

  5. Great result with a really difficult paint scheme, David (@davids_models). I am glad to see you are still using the time-honored display method of our youth.

  6. Nicely done! Looks great with your other builds.

  7. Looks great, David, a terrific addition to your studio ceiling.

  8. Nice build! One of my early builds on returning to the hobby years ago was the Airfix (I think) 1/72 version of Lady in the Dark. I love the lines of the Black Widow - not sleek, but deadly.
