Copper State Models 1/32 Caudron G.III
This is a very well designed model. The building experience is much like Wingnut Wings models. The surface areas are crisp with good fabric rendition. Instructions are detailed, but not confusing. You may want to go back and forth through the pages to gather a broader perspective of the build. Rigging is elaborate but, manageable. Meaning that wires are omitted in the section drawings and rigging of a section takes several stages. I prefer the tedious work of rigging to the frustration over engineering mistakes that you will not find here. It is the first broad wings bi plane that I built where the struts hold the two wings together without needing a drop of glue. Yet, the attachment point profile of struts is square and not round. This can complicate the building process since the holes drilled for the rigging alter the dimensions of the strut joints. A round profile would be desired.
The time it took me to complete the model compares with three not too complex 1/48th models.
"Rigging is elaborate but, manageable" - you must have different meanings for those words than the rest of us. 🙂
Beautiful work on this "birdcage" and a great result.
Thank you Tom
What I meant was that in other models most if not all wires are included in each section drawing. Here, lots of wires are omitted and rigging of a section takes several stages.
Standing in awe, Rafi!
This is really wonderful!
Thank you Spiros!
That is a really nice model. The rigging certainly sets it off and as you say looks quite involved.
Thank you Christopher
Great work, Rafi. This one should be up front in the display case.
Thank you Gary
To be honest, I built the model for the challenge. While I think it stands out better than other WWI era models thanks to the bit wings, I stored it in favor of the WWII models.
Not only very well designed, but especially very well modeled, Rafi @blackmopane
Great result on this challenging kit, especially the rigging looks super.
Thank you John
Great work on this, Rafi! I’m normally not afraid to rig bi-planes, but I avoid stuff like this.
Thank you John. I felt the same for 50 years. Nice to change approach though I am not inclined at all to start a Wingnut Wings collection.
Always liked this machine. Never thought We would see a kit never mind 1/32!
Great job, extremely impressive work.
Thank you Bill
Absolutely beautiful build, and I would think trying to spin a spider's web easier than the rigging of that plane. Funny what some people consider "managable". Really nice work and lots of admiration on my part of what you have accomplished here.
Thank you Walt
An amazing and beautiful build!
Thank you Bob
All of the above! Superb work.
Thank you Robert
It looks great, Rafi, an incredible rigging arrangement. By the way, I think it’s Copper State, not Cooper, not terribly important perhaps, but it means anyone searching on our database in the future won’t find it, hope you don’t mind me pointing that out.
Thank you George
Will correct. I wonder why the speller did not pick it up
Maybe because the word has an initial capital letter so the spell check assumes it’s a name, only guessing.
Beautiful model in so many ways!
Thank you Bojan!
