Korean War Group Builds-North American F-82G Twin Mustang
Here is my first contribution to the Korean War Group Build, a Modelsvit F-82G. Nice kit but I had a slightly warped part, not noticeable but wreaked havoc with fit until I found, and corrected the part. The rest of the kit went together well, with no issues. I did use printed exhausts as my fat fingers ruined the etched exhausts. The decals are a combination of the kit's, Print Scale, and the spares box.
The kit represents a NA F-82G, serial 46-363 "Bucket O'Bolts" of the 68th F(AW)S, based out of Itazuke Japan flown by Lt. Wm. "Skeeter" Hudson (pilot) and Lt. Carl Fraser (radar operator) in which had the first American air-to-air victory (Yak-11) of the Korean war (1950).
This is a nice kit, just take your time and make sure you align the parts correctly.
Bruce
Well done, Bruce! Another fine KW build for Imodeler.
Looks great Bruce, always liked this plane and in this scheme.
Nice - would like to see more pics!
Great build! more pics please
Looks great, Bruce @rbrucearcher
Nice printing result on the exhausts. Would love to see some more pictures.
@johnb - The exhausts are from Resin2Detail. They're excellent. I used them on my F-82H.
"Make sure you align the parts correctly" - absolute truth for this kit.
Great result Bruce.
A beauty. I have one in my stash, hope it turns out as well as yours!
Read my reviews to get the map to the minefield that is this kit, Chas. 🙂
Fantastic job, Bruce!
Looks awesome, Bruce (@rbrucearcher). I had heard some bad things about this kit, but you have obviously conquered its issues. I can't imagine what it was like to fly this plane.
Mostly if you get the wing properly assembled (start at one end and work across to the other) all the problems resolve themselves. Said from experience.
Exactly correct about the wing. I cannot stress this enough, take your time and double-check everything! It turns out to be a really nice kit, right from the box. BTW the exhausts were from Shapeways.
I have a Modelcraft kit, and by using what was left over from the Modelsvit kit perhaps something decent can be made...
Looks cool in this colour scheme, but, more pictures please.
