Jeep Willys MB 4x4. Tamiya 1/35

March 11, 2023 · in Armor · · 20 · 1K

The classic Willys from . Fun little kit. Added the Eduard photoetch set (110 pieces), so took a little longer than expected but adds some nice detail. Many of the PE pieces go unseen. Made an antenna from a piece of toothpick and some guitar wire. Decided not to add the figure. Thanks for looking!

  1. Nice! Great looking Jeep looks right in place in the backyard jungle.

  2. You’ve made a great model from this classic kit.

  3. Amazing job, Russ!

  4. Nice work. I am curious how you made the windshield wiper sweeps on the windshield? I'm a bit of a newbie, building that kit now.

    • Thanks Jim.
The eduard photoetch set came with masks for the wheels and windshield. Before I glued the windows in, I put the masks on and just sprayed a few light coats of matt clear varnish to give it a "fog" look.

  5. Great looking Willys, Russ @rfking
Those dirty windows do look very nice indeed.
I do like those outdoor taken pictures a lot.

  6. Wow - very nice work on this and it looks very good there in the "jungle".

  7. Nice build Russ 😊

  8. A really appealing model Russ. You've done a great job here.

  9. @rfking - Great work Russ. The PE definitely adds a lot of great detail.

  10. Great job on a great little kit, Russ.

  11. I always picture Jeeps in the historically inaccurate TV series Rat Patrol garb.

  12. Nice build, and great mud, the filthy windshield is realistic!

  13. Filled to the brim with nice details. Love the Tamiya jeep, can build it anytime. The only thing missing is a nice filler cap on the jerry can.

  14. Very damned cool! 😁 Great work on this Russ @rfking! 👍

  15. What an awesome looking Jeep @rfking, love It man, all the little details just make it pop. Would you say the PE set is worth it for this.

    • Thanks! I'd say its worth it if you don't mind working with pe. Over 100 pieces, many small and finicky. Of course, some of the pieces aren't seen once done as those on the engine. There were a few I didn't use such as the towing bar. It comes with a mask set for the windows and wheels.
