Jim Sullivan is Gone

May 14, 2023 · in News · 15 · 461

All,

It is with the greatest of sadness that I write to inform you that our friend Jim Sullivan has passed.

Jim has been a fixture of my life since 1973, when he became one of the first aerospace photography "heavy hitters" to help Jim Wogstad and myself with our budding Replica in Scale project. I've valued his friendship for over 50 years and am hard-pressed to imagine a world without him in it. I know many of you on iModeler feel the same.

Blue skies, Amigo...

  10. I first corresponded with him on this site. Until I connected the dots, I had not realized he had authored some of the books that I have. He sent me a number of Phantom photos of my old squadron. R.I. P.

  12. If it was blue and flew, then Jim knew, was a tag I liked to say about Jim. A wonderful and knowledgeable person that was a great resource for us model guys, and a genuinely nice guy. R.I.P my friend!

  13. This is so sad. I had recently corresponded with Jim. On March 11, he messaged me that he was starting the XF4U-3 Corsair Conversion Set I had created, and he had bought back in May of 2019. He was wondering if I did the lettering/numbers for the tail.

This may have been one of the last models he worked on. I appreciated his compliments of my conversion set and the great job he did with the XF4U-3.
    He will be missed.
