Airfix Mitsubishi A6M2b Zero 1/72

June 1, 2023 · in Aviation · · 19 · 590

Finished this Airfix Zero Kit with Ammo Mig and AK interactive acrylics. Ammo Mig panel line wash. It is part of the Pearl Harbor 75th anniversary gift set. The plane was flown from the Akagi.
After the primer i first put on a chocolate brown coat as a base.
The pictures do not really show the IJN ash grey properly, i struggled with the lighting. It is mostly way too white.
Lovely kit which has just been reissued, it is just so tiny!
Happy modelling!

I'm no Zero expert, but this is a very dramatic and authentic looking model, I'm impressed.

  4. Beautiful work. Excellent job on the canopy!

  5. Lovely, subtle work here, especially considering the scale. I'm sure a lot of the delicacy is lost through photography, but a lot of your skill still comes across very clearly.

  6. Sweet looking A6M.Yes, that canopy work is impressive, I could take lessons from you.

    • Hi Robert @roofrat, thank you so much! I used an eduard masking set for the canopy and used a very sharp knife to carefully peel it off. Taking my time is what really worked for me!

  7. Very nice work on your A6M, I had to look twice. It looks more like a 1/48th build.

  8. A great-looking Zero! Looks great.

  9. Really great work! Very nice kit! What Paints did You use?
