Mirror Models 1/35 Diamond T969 Wrecker

June 20, 2023 · in Armor · · 13 · 370

This innocent looking is a wolf in a sheep skin. In general, cranes are difficult to build because of the intricate winch cable system. In this kit the inherent difficulty was further confounded by vague instructions and many small parts. The parts are randomly distributed on the trees. It takes a long time just to find the right part. Moreover, the gates between the parts and the trees are wide. Again, it takes a long time to clean the parts. With a sigh of relief, I completed the model.

@blackmopane - You did a great job on this challenging kit, Rafi. I've seen the sprues, the design is not on the modeler's side.

I love Diamond T military trucks. I have the resin Accurate Armour Diamond T Wrecker with Soft Cab, but I haven't yet started it.

    • Thank you Anna
I hope that you share your experience with that kit

        You're welcome, Rafi.

I will share about the AA Diamond T, the kit is rather intimidating in the box, but it seems like they covered every conceivable detail.

Back in the late 1980s, the first military modeling magazine I bought for myself had a Diamond T tank transporter with a scratch built trailer, and so military Diamond T trucks became a sort of "symbol" for me,

  3. Amazing model, Rafi! You tackled all challenges in a most effective way. The result is, as usual, superb!

  4. Thank you kindly, Spiros!

  5. That’s an interesting model, Rafi. I’ve never heard of Mirror Models. I need to look them up.

  6. These kind of vehicles can make impressive models, Rafi, well done on getting all those small components looking like the real thing.

  7. Thank you kindly George

  8. This one slipped by me. A true great result from a not so great kit. For years I’ve been wanting to build a military wrecker like this as my grandpa drove one in WWII with the engineers.

  9. Thank you Matt. There is always the resin version by Accurate Armor...
