T2V-1 Seastar, US Marines El Toro 1962. 1/72 Sword
To make the TV-2[T-33] carrier suitable, Lockheed added an elevated instructor's seat, strenghened undercarriage, tail hook and catapult hookup and leading-edge flaps were improvements made to what became known as the T2V-1[T-1A] Seastar. It did not have folding wings, with only 150 being made it was replaced by the more capable T2C buckeye. Although it remained in service into tha1970's.
The kit went together fairly easily needing less filler than their F9F-8T 2 seat Couger. Decals were problematic.with the small ones sometimes curling into themselves, the white back decals worked well showing very little orange bleed through. I used Tamiya rattle can orange TS-12, white TS-27, and gray primer.
@roofrat - Great build Robert, so clean. The paint work looks excellent and I really like the collection you have in the final photo.
Really nice result, Robert @roofrat
A nicely chosen scheme, a beautiful addition to your collection.
Never heard of this A/C but you sure can tell it had a T-33 for a mother. Nicely done Robert she looks good.
Nice job Robert! It is nice to see the other version of the T-33. This is an overlooked trainer.
Nicely done Robert, one I wasn't aware of, lovely group of trainers.
Amazing result, Robert! Never knew about this variant. Two thumbs up!
You have a very nice fleet of navy trainers there!
Nicely done, Robert! She looks good amongst the flock.
Very neatly finished, Robert, great colour scheme.
You played a great round of "stump the band" - I too had never heard of this variant! Love it! Great build - I may have to find one of these.
Stellar paint job, Robert!
Thanks all.
