Trumpeter F6F-5N Hellcat Night Fighter 1/32

Hellcat, everybody loves it, everybody has one so... I got me one. I saw many examples of this extraordinary fighter plane and many with the fuselage open to see the interior and I was encouraged to do it this way.

I decided to work on the scale kit for more detail, plus the engine cowl part is transparent and helps to see inside.

For other internal parts that come with the kit between the engine and the cockpit or the batteries located in the body of the plane you have to open holes since the rest of the plane is not transparent.

So, after a lot of work to create those extra details based on photos and kits from other modelers, open the holes and give them a good finish and make all the parts fit correctly I joined both parts of the body of the plane and everything came out very well. I can say that I was happy.

But... you can hardly see much of all those details. A lot of work for little result. Moral of the story, get a model with transparent parts to make a project like this.

I share with you some pictures of all that work that remains even if you can't see it.

For the cockpit that I liked how it looked I used Eduard's PE parts that are already essential for each model. For the exterior and interior paint I used AMMO that have a kit with colors used in US planes in the Pacific, highly recommended.

Finally, the decals that come with the kit are not very good as they become a little transparent with the dark blue background of the fuselage.

I hope you like this new little plane.

Let´s keep building and lerning.

  1. @quiquelopez - Absolutely amazing work Enrique! Opening the panels added fantastic details to the kit... even if it a bit hard to see some of it with the wings folded.

  2. Splendid job, Enrique!
    Gorgeous looks!

  3. Excellent effort in turning a sow's ear kit into a silk purse model. Lot's of very nice work on display here.

  4. Very clean build. Nice to see a different take from the battle hardened version we often see.

    • Thanks for your comment Matt. Actually I already have another 1/48 hellcat to be finish in the regular version you mentioned. The idea is to put both togheter to see how was the plane with folded and not felded wings.
Let's keep building my friend. Have a great one.

  5. Speechless with these results, Enrique @quiquelopez
So much details to look at, really amazing.
    A true gem.

  6. This one looks great, Enrique (@quiquelopez), thanks to a lot of work on your part. I like the way you used the clear part on the cowling. Well done.

    • Thanks George. Clear parts are great and push you to make an extra effort to show all the details you want to work on. At the end look different and believe me it look great in the display cabinet. I love this hobby my friend. Bye

  7. I agree with Tom on this one. Trumpeter kits tend to be less than ideal but often are the only game in town. But you've down well with this Enrique (@quiquelopez). Good job.

    • Hi Carl, what you and Tom said is true and this kits aren't the best but sometimes is the only one on the market and the only to be affordable so... This is the way (as the Mandalorian said) my fiend. 😀
Thanks for your comment. Have a great day and keep building no matter what.
      Bye

  8. Hi, Enrique, this turned out very well, you must be pleased that all your hard work paid off, happy modelling. But not everyone wants or has one, it’s just another American war weapon designed to kill other people.
