Flying Green Dragon
This project started with my Mom seeing the Red Dragon I did a while back. She liked it and mentioned that she'd like to have something similar but not so spikey. 🙂
So, being the good son, I purchased this model from 'Lord of the Print' on myMiniFactory.com It's not necessarily intended to be Green, but that's what Mom wanted.
There are 3 different medallions embedded in the dragon's skin... they have, what appear to be, Asian symbols so I went with that as the deep pink sash and white cloth/pale skin would stand out well against the green of the dragon. It's also why I chose the reddish brown for the leather straps; contrast.
What a good son you are, Brian, I love the texture on this which your painting has really brought out.
@chinesegeorge - Thanks George, the texture itself really helps the washes settle in.
Nice paintwork, leading to a great result.
@tcinla - Thanks Tom, fun stuff!
Knowing how to contrast certain colors together, I'm sure, plays a major role in figure painting. Yours is a fine example.
@jdtruby - Thanks John, in one of my past lives I went to school for fine art. Thinking about color is kind of always there.
Amazing result, Brian! Great build thread too!
@fiveten - Thanks Spiros! Appreciated as always.
Glad you did listen to your mom, Brian @brithebuilder
This dragon looks great, especially with the chosen color.
@johnb - Thanks John. I like the dragon's final colors as well.
Nicely done Brian! beautiful work.
@roofrat - Thanks Robert! Just trying to keep Mom happy!
very artistic!
@lis - Thanks Lis!
Thanks for sharing a different type of model. Sometime the planes take over and other kits are overlooked. Nice work!
@coondog - Thanks Matt, I appreciate it. I like the variety of modeling/building/painting lots of different stuff. Historical accuracy and modeling based on reference is great and so is pure fantasy.
