Another Devastator
Bill Koppos has already done an excellent review of the kit on this site, to which I have little to add. I totally agreed with all his points about the strengths and weaknesses of what I thought was essentially a very good kit.
The only two points I would add are an issue with the canopy masks, and the torpedo. The canopy masks are a welcome inclusion but the interior masks are identical to the exterior ones. The exterior ones fit fine, but some of the interior ones need trimming to fit, due to the internal curvature of the canopy. It's not that difficult, and certainly better than having no masks at all. It worked for me by adding the exterior ones first, as they provide a good marker for trimming the internal ones.
Bill points out the poor representation of the bombs, and I totally agree. However, the torpedo is done much better and includes PE representations of the extra fins that were added later on. It's unfortunate that the bombardiers doors are only designed to be fitted in the open position because they weren't used when dropping the torpedo. To fit them closed would require some surgery that I didn't have time for on this particular build.
There is a video of my build on my Youtube channel if anyone wants more detail.
I thought the best I could do was add some pictures of the finished model, as I did the pre-war version and Bill's was finished the WW2 scheme.
Fantastic Devastator, Peter!
Welcome aboard!
Thank you!

I see Martin gave you some advice on adding pics to a post. Adding pics can be a bit finicky at times but looks like you figured it out.
Again, well done on the build!
Great looking Devastator , I enjoyed you're video as well, it was very informative.
Thanks Mark.
It's great to have had so many responses so quickly.

Very helpful, thank you.
Hopefully I'll find it a bit easier next time!
Fantastic photos Peter. Looking forward to seeing more of your builds. The yellow wings and the Canary yellow on the tail are a nice touch.
Thank you!
I'll try to put my build of the Infinity 1/32 Helldiver soon.
Very well done, looks great in the colorful livery. Good engine wiring job too. Congrats on your first article.
Thanks Bill
The model would go nicely with yours!
It was a great relief to find that our opinions about the strengths and weaknesses of the kit were virtually identical. I'd already submitted the article to AMW for publication and it's too late to change it if I'd missed anything obvious.
This forum seems great - I'm going to try to get some more stuff on it.
Very beautiful Devastator. It's nice to see another kit of the TBD, especially a nice one. I still have the old Monogram 1/48th scale kit. Nice work, I look forward to seeing more of your models. Welcome to the sight!
Thank you!
Great looking aircraft. Welcome to iModeler. @fearonntlworld-com

Very nice build of an imposing and historic aircraft. Now to drag my Great Wall TBD-1 across the finish line.
Could you please link to your build video? Thanks.
Hi David
Thank you!
I'm having trouble sending a link to the video, I'm not sure how to insert it as a link in this system. Here's the video web address though. It's https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rw3kv-5R6Ss
Hope you find it interesting.
