Desert Stukas: Hasegawa 1/48 Ju-87B

November 13, 2023 · in Aviation · · 38 · 585

Hasegawa's is a very nice kit. However, it requires modifications to emphasize the characteristics of the aircraft in the model. The flaps and ailerons are joined to the wings in false rods. I scratch build the connections opening the locations where the rods slide into the wings. The separation of the built in ailerons and flaps from the wings is tricky since the plastic is hard and the wing surfaces are prone to damage. I often cut myself in the process when dealing with scale Stuka wings.

Further enhancements included main wheels without spats and engine using detail kits.

  13. I love the detail in the tires as if they had the weight of the beautiful bird on them. Bravo.

  14. The Stuka was one of the most impressive German WW2 aircraft, it must have been really scary to have been the subject of one of their attacks, and your models have captured their appearance very well.

  15. Beautiful work we've come to expect from you! That one without spats looks like it lost it's pants! Love the schemes on these, and the paintwork is marvelous.
