Revell 1/72 Lancaster Mk.!

January 8, 2024 · in Aviation · · 28 · 307

Sometimes, size does not matter. 's is a gem kit that provides a solid build with ample details for its small scale. And, it does not take much space. What else can you ask for?

  3. Looks amazing Rafi (@blackmopane)
    Another great model.
Iโ€™d love to see it placed in between a Spitfire and Hurricane of the same scale. Battle of Britain memorial flight ๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿ˜Ž

  4. A classic build of a super classic plane.

  5. First class result. Beautifully finished & weathered. Love it!

  6. Rafi, you did a marvelous job on this build. @blackmopane

  7. You did a marvelous job on this Lancaster, Rafi @blackmopane
Currently building the same one, as a Dambuster, but It doesn't go together that nicely, when seeing yours it must be definitely me making the issues.

  8. Let me give you my solution for getting rid of dust without breaking anything.

You need two spray bottles, thoroughly cleaned out. Put tap water in both. Put a little dish soap in one - do not shake it, you don't want foam. Spray the soapy water first over the whole model, then rinse thoroughly with the plain water. use a tissue to "mop up" the water - lightly, not thoroughly. Allow to air dry. Voila! A "new" model.

    • Thank you Tom.
Dust removal can be a chore because old models break easily and are more difficult to fix. Also, a properly dusted model looks less real. The worst are the canopies. But, cleaning does not help because the transparent parts age.
There it also a question of time economics. There are other things in life besides models, right?๐Ÿ˜ƒ

  9. Nice Lanc, Rafi. 1/72 is the perfect scale for 4 engined bombers.

  10. Nice one. Built their Op Chastise version but it needed a fair bit of work. It is a nice model but it suffers from a couple of generic issues. Rad intakes are supposed to be too large (them that know reckon its down to the Lancaster that they all survey finished her life in India so had larger tropical intakes fitted...who knows?) And the other is too little dihedral. That is fairly easy to fix if folk want to.

    It's a Lancaster...what's not to love?โค๏ธ

    • Thank you Chris.
Good points. I forgot about the dihedral angle, that I believe that I fixed during the build. Unknowingly, about the rad intakes, I also built a late Lancaster, which is more suitable for the kit...

  11. Your Lancaster looks awesome Rafi. I have the Airfix 72nd scale dambusters kit, and it too is well detailed for the money. When I get to it, I hope it turns out half as nice as your Lancaster did.

  12. A great-looking Lanc, especially with the white on the vertical tails - I hadn't seen that scheme. Done to your usual standards!

  13. Very nice build!
