1/48 Revell F-15E Strike Eagle
This kit was built about 5+ years ago in what I would describe as my first serious attempt at building scale aircraft. Up until that time I had mostly been doing 1/350 ships but after I saw an article in Fine Scale Modeler with this kit I decided to give it a try. Using an Eduard detail set and decals from Two Bob's (the exact same as the author used in the article) I followed along step by step.
This was also my first attempt at modulating color and the result was some nice variation in the different shades of gray, a process which I am still learning and trying to improve on in my current work. I also learned the value of a good gloss coat for future builds as evidenced by the silvered decals đ
The kit now resides in my classroom where it has been bumped and bruised (currently missing a Sidewinder) and collecting a little dust but provides a point of interest for my high school students along with a few other kits from my collection.
For the price point this kit provides incredible value and realism.
Great looking Eagle. The various ways of modulating color always need a bit of practice to get the hang of. The trickiest part I found is trying not to over do it.
That's a great-looking Eagle! Nice work on it - keep experimenting, you will get better each time. Lot's of YouTube videos showing different options for modulating, blackbasing, etc.
Excellent build, David.
Great job on this Revell Eagle, David! I am sure it is one of the highlights in your class!
Excellent result on this Eagle, David @dbutlr
Especially considering this is your first serious attempt on aircraft modelling.
For a first attempt, this is just a superb result.
I wish you could brighten the pix so we can see your work better.
Thanks @tcinla! I adjusted the brightness of the photos- hopefully they look a little better now
I love it David (@dbutlr). It looks very cool indeed!
Nicely done, David!
Great looking F-15, David, and especially well done for using it in the classroom.
