Eduard 1/48 Mig 21MT/SMT
The Mig 21SMT was developed as a long range fighter/bomber carrying additional fuel in enlarged cells located on the spine and a more powerful engine. The modifications resulted with reduced performance and increased flight instability. Thus, this was the least successful Mig 21 version ever produced.
Eduard's Mig 21SMT kit is only option for the particular build. Yet, it is a very good kit and does not require particular adaptations or correction to achieve an eye pleasing result
Very nice Rafi. I need more jets
Thank you George.
Nice Mig, Rafi. I built Blue 15 too. Eduard MiGs are some of my favorite kits
Thank you John.
Eduard's Migs were also favorites of mine. With the then, low cost of the weekend edition you got a highly detailed and accurate model with no build issues. What else can you ask for?
Both are awesome, Rafi! Excellent builds! Thanks for the kit info, Eduard got it right.
Thank you Spiros!
Really nice work and excellent painting. Great results.
The MiG-21 kits have a problem getting the windscreen flush with the fuselage, I don't know why. But it you run white glue around there (apply it with a pin) you can get that gap to disappear, since the glue dries clear and thus invisible.
Thank you Tom.
When I build so many kits of the same kind, I overlook the manufacturer's errors that I initially corrected.
I also, could not figure out what is the source of that ridge. Now, after building other Eduard kits I know that the source is design error leaving a wide margin of part placement for an otherwise very tight fit of parts.
I am glad now, that the recent price hike of Eduard kits gives me a good excuse not to cope anymore with this irritating issue.
A beautiful pair of MiGs, Rafi @blackmopane
The chosen schemes are very nicely applied.
Thank you John.
"Least successful Mig 21's produced", but most badass looking Mig 21's in my opinion! 🙂 I want to build both of those for my Mig 21 collection one day!
Congrats on awesome builds!
Thank you Dan.
I used one Profipack edition and one weekend with spares from the first to save costs.
Amazing finish on these "tough" looking birds , I didn't know the hump was a fuel tank, every day's a school day ! great job Rafi.
Thank you Neil!
@blackmopane
Rafi both your MIGs are splendid, I particularly like the fabulous paint work you achieved for the diffuse camouflage edges. Bravo!
Thank you Pedro!
Cool MiGs, Rafi. Some of the Chinese built versions fly near where I live, they are so noisy.
Thank you George.
Those are two beautiful MiG 21's! Love those schemes, and as always your paintwork and weathering or sublime!
