Meng 1/32 Fokker DR1
I was given this kit for my birthday and was advised to do it in the red livery of Manfred Von Richthofen, so here it is. The kit was a pleasure to build and I included Quinta Studio interior 3D decals as well as Gaspatch machine guns and turnbuckles. As the story of the "Red Baron" is well known I shall not repeat it here, except to say that I shall have to build Arthur Brown's Sopwith Camel to complete the legend. Included in the kit was a bust of Von Richthofen, as I have never done figures I wondered what to do with it, found some imitation gold leaf so I guilded it. The small figure was added as an afterthought.
G’day Ian (@firelockg),
Nicely done and a great idea with the gold leaf.
I built his younger brothers aircraft here.
Liked!
G'day Michael,
I like you DR1 , have done 2 1/72 DR1's , one all black of P.Jacobs Justa7 and one green one of E. Udet Justa4. I was going to do the Meng kit in Udets colours but was out voted by my family and so the red machine.

Super job Ian!
THanks David.
Great job, Ian! Love what you did with the bust!
Thanks Spiros, was an easy way out for the bust.
Excellent result, Ian @firelockg
The Dr.I looks amazing in Richthofen's red scheme.
Thanks you John, it came out better than I expected.
Beautiful work Ian. Great war planes definitely suit you. I also have this Fokker from Meng and I immediately have a lot of inspiration to build it.
Thanks Milan, love the old war birds, its a very good kit, fits well and leaves plenty of room for fine detailing if you want.
Awesome work. @firelockg
Thank s John.
