Tamiya Mazda MX-5 Roadster 1/24
Since I restarted this childhood hobby of mine, my 9 year old daughter kept asking if she could play with the models I've built. That's why I choose to build this Mazda MX-5 from Tamiya for her. It's a car I've always loved, and a nice side-step from the more historical kits I usually build.
Tamiya has made this a fine model to build. Especially the head- and rearlights is very detailed. My daughter preferred the red color (Tamiya TS-95, the first time I sprayed a model, instead of brush-painting). It was also the first time I had to use metal-stickers. I overlooked in the manual strange how to use them, but found some help with it online.
I hope you enjoy the pictures. I'd love to know what you think of it!
That’s a great model of a great car, colour choice is excellent. I think if you examined the instructions more thoroughly you would find out how to apply the metal stickers. Welcome to iModeler.
Thanks for the comment George. You are totally right. I’ve just rechecked the manual and the use of metal transfers is on page two. How could I have missed out on that. 🤔
Excellent work, Harm @hptiggelaar
The MX5 is a beautiful car and the red color does do justice to it.
Welcome to iModeler, you will find lots of interesting stuff around here.
Based on your first and last name, I assume you're from the Netherlands.
Thanks John, I’m from The Netherlands indeed. It’s nice to search for interesting stuff on this site.
Very nice job, Harm! Excellent painting results for your first time spraying!
Welcome aboard!
Thank you Spiros!

Thanks Tom. Great to hear you liked it. 👍🏻
Great looking roadster. Nice paint work.
Thanks Matt! I enjoyed it a lot.
Great looking MX5 , looks like a Mazda dealers show room with the crystal wall and marble floor.
There you can see where two of my hobby’s meet… 😎 Whisky and building models. I won’t mix them up.
