1/72 Marine SBD-1 Dauntless

A couple of years ago I replaced my "Sail12" -3 (below) with a better Hasegawa kit.

Rather than leave the old kit sitting on the obsoletes shelf I repainted and redecaled it for 2-MB-1, the commander's aircraft for VMB-2 in August 1940. Several aircraft sported these markings, but the specific one here is BuNo 1597.

It's not a detailed or particularly accurate build - I just wanted to see what the decals looked like, and boy do they pop!

  8. Looks great, nice redo. Those old yellow wing paint schemes really do pop, especially when sitting on a shelf next to aircraft painted in combat colors.
