Tamiya 1/35 Universal Carrier Mk2. or more commonly know as a "Bren Gun Carrier "

March 22, 2024 · in Armor · · 6 · 306

I am mainly into WW1 aircraft but saw this kit and had to buy and build it, let me explain.

When I was a young boy growing up on the farm we had a neighbour who always drove his tractor standing up on the footplates. Being inquisitive kids we asked him why he did this. He explained that during WW2 he served in the Australian army in the North Africa campaign ( and later in the Pacific ) as a Bren Gun Carrier driver and because they were " as rough as guts " machines his back was such that it was less painful to drive his tractor ( MF 135 ) standing up. As I have no idea of the livery of Rays machine I built the kit OOB in the British livery for the Nth African conflict. So this ones for you Cpl. Ray Dance, may you rest in peace, free from a sore back.

  1. Neat build of this classic kit, but I think it needs a standing driver to finish it off.

  2. A great build, Ian!

  3. A beautiful build, Ian @firelockg
I can imagine his back suffered in this one.

  4. Thanks John, I would not like to be driving around in one all day.
