AWACS USN Style: 1/48th Kinetic E-2C 2000 Hawkeye

July 14, 2024 · in Aviation · · 14 · 200

Kinetic first released their 1/48 E-2C Hawkeye kit in 2009 and I would say it is still the best Hawkeye kit in any scale (if you have the room). The kit has been updated since its release with new parts and reissued. My build is of the later E-2C Hawkeye 2000 version.

As I wanted a bolder scheme than the Kinetic version provided (VAW-120 Grey Hawks - which was OK but more grey than I cared for) I used the Authentic Decals 48-30 to get the beautiful VAW-117 "Wallbangers" Scheme. Base paint is FS 26440.

You can see more in-depth detail of this E-2C 2000 Hawkeye build with additional photos at:

Thanks for looking & good luck on your next build.

  7. that is a great looking Hawkeye! How was the build? Where there any major problems to overcome or was it a pretty relaxing build?

I found this build pretty straight forward (maybe because I was expecting more trouble:) You can see a brief build review of this kit at my website: https://www.flypastrush.com/post/kinetice-2c2000hawkeye

    • exactly the information I was looking for. Kinetic should give you commission - your build has inspired me to put this on my to-do list. Thanks for the info and again, great work!

  9. Thanks Ramon, I will put the word out to Kinetic regarding the commission payment 🙂 Now if a 1/48th C-2 Greyhound make the delivery of the E-2C, I will ask Kinetic for a double tap 🙂 - Cheers (@anvil6)
