Eduard 1/48 Bf 110E

July 16, 2024 · in Aviation · · 20 · 333

The model represents an aircraft from 4./NJG1 based in St. Trond, Belgium during 1942. It took part in the night sorties of Operation DonnerKeil (Channel Dash). In addition to the sharkmouth emblem, the aircraft had a special yellow recognition band applied and was painted with RLM 72 upper surfaces. I avoided emphasizing the grey green nature of RLM 72 that would flatten the looks of the model and gravitated towards the olive RLM 70/71 hues.

's series models are highly detailed albeit many small part count. The major hurdle is the detailed nose section. Once completed, the nose cowl does not settle on its base properly, thus challenging the builder to find a solution for interchangeable display options.

  1. Awesome result from a challenging kit, Rafi!
    Love the scheme, perfectly done!
Great decision not to overemphasize the RLM72.
    Well done!

  2. A really nice build, Rafi @blackmopane
After having built this specific kit myself, I agree that Eduard did a fine job here. Lots of detail in the interior sections indeed.

  3. Here's the solution to the nose problem: glue upper and lower parts together so they fit right, then slice off the excess at the rear of the lower part, then glue the nose to the rest of the fuselage.

Very nice work on this very fiddly kit, and a superb result.

  4. Beautiful nose art! St. Trond or Sint Truiden is in Belgium, Flanders though... Nice city!

  5. Another beauty, Rafi.

  6. Wow. excellent again.

  7. G’day Rafi (@blackmopane),
    Very nicely done.
I’ve yet to build one of these (I have a C and a G), but have heard that they are difficult. Yours looks great.
    Liked!

  8. Looks great. The 110 is one of my favorite subjects and this one looks fantastic.

  9. Beautifully done Rafi!

  10. Great Bf110. I really like the red and black sharks mouth instead of it being red and white definitely gives it a different look.
