Polikarpov I-16
I just read Tom Cleaver's post of his build of this fine kit and was inspired to post mine after I decided not to bother. I usually shoot a few photos of a new build indoors to check for flaws, omissions, mistakes, etc. Before I could move it outside for more photos the plywood backdrop I use fell over and smashed that fine, delicate landing gear to bits. So it got rebuilt with the gear doors closed and now hangs from my ceiling.
Shame about the disaster
Aw, that is a "bummer for sure" as we used to say. Good save though.
A very nice save.
Nice build!
Excellent save, Chas!
A pity about the crash but a great save in the end, Chas @chasbunch
May I ask how you applied that difficult scheme.
I first painted the top green, then put splotches of poster putty over that, using the box art as a guide. Then I shot the sand, let it dry, and peeled off the poster putty to reveal the green spinach scheme.
@chasbunch, thanks for sharing. That putty is really great masking material.
Good work and an interesting solution.
Nice work! We all lose one every so often. Great save.
A lovely build, and great scheme. Shame it got busted up - now it looks like one of mine! 😉
Nice work and nice save! Still an excellent looking build.
As a frequent crasher, I sympathize. Pretty Rat.
That's a honey, Chas @chasbunch! 🤩 I love your paint scheme and your explanation of how it was achieved is very helpful, too! 👍
Great work Chas@chasbunch - wonderful scheme!
