Vichy French Hawk: 1/48th Hobbycraft Hawk 75

August 6, 2024 · in Aviation · · 16 · 264

The 1/48th Hobbycraft Hawk 75 kit is a decent budget model that builds up into a nice display aircraft. I was pleased with the end result and would recommend the kit to model makers of any skill. It is a simple build, if you want to leave it at that, or with some extra detailing, can be a great display model.

This kit plastic has been more recently re-released under the Academy brand.

Thanks for looking & good luck on your next build.

  1. Beautiful build, this paint scheme looks great. I like most of the Hobbycraft kits, I think they have provided us with some pretty nice kits to build.

    • Thanks Bob, Hobbycraft was a bit hit and miss, but provided some subjects that no other manufacturer had done before or a rarity (CF-105, CF-100, CT-114, DHC Beaver, P-59, F7U Cutlass to name a few). They certainly were reasonably priced for the most part and some kits were pretty decent, so they had their advantages.

  2. Looks like a nice kit. Great job. I'm a big fan of anything Curtiss. Your French camo and markings really make it an eye catcher, just beautiful.

    • Thanks Chris, I really liked the French paint finish and the Finnish paint jobs were interesting as well so hoping to do one of those at some point - Cheers

  3. Nice job, FPR. Great looking scheme.

  4. Well done! I've done a couple of those Hobbycraft Hawks and like you said, they can be made into decent models.

  5. G’day FPR (@flypastrush),
    This is a great build.
I have one in the stash to build one day snd will do a French bird as well.
I’m a fan of three colour camouflage schemes and you have executed yours nicely.
